Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God – Genesis 6:9b
Anyone hearing this description might be quick to immediately discount any impact they could have, for fear of not being able to measure up to the standards set by Noah. But what amazes me most about Noah is not so much what he did, but what he didn’t do…
Noah never gave up. He persevered. And most importantly, he obeyed.
2. It breaks down reading passages into manageable daily readings, yet instead of listing them by date, the headlines simply read, “Day 1”, “Day 2” and so on…for someone like me that has trouble keeping up with something EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. and feels guilty if I miss too many days, this method is great. Not only does it allow you to start anytime of the year, but it also allows you to miss a day here and there without the guilt 🙂
John Maxwell says that “Character and perseverance determine what happens after a decision is made.” Obedience to God isn’t just about saying “Yes” to God, but about actually following through with your actions.
Many of us waver and question our faith if God doesn’t respond to our prayers right away or if things don’t turn out quite like we’d imagined. Yet Noah persevered through decades of criticism to follow what God called Him to do.
Our past can affect our future, but it shouldn’t keep us from doing what we’re called to in the present day. Today is all we’re guaranteed, so make sure to make the most of it!
