Repurposing Grocery Dollars

October 6, 2015: Repurposing Grocery Dollars

One of the constants in our budget is groceries. Not only can it be one of our most expensive line items, I have good news for you: it can also be one of the easiest to reduce.

Even if you aren’t ready to reduce the amount you are spending on groceries each month, I want you to do one thing: repurpose how you spend your grocery dollars.

What I mean is, I want you to spend half on your necessities for that week and the other half on stockpile items. Instead of buying just what you need for the week, use half of your weekly grocery budget to stock up on those great deals you find and buy enough of them to see your family through the next 3 to 12 weeks, which is when that sale will most likely come around again.

After a couple months of putting this into practice, you’ll notice that you will naturally be able to reduce the amount of money you’re spending on your groceries each month without feeling like you are losing anything in your fridge or your pantry.
