Something You Want

December 9, 2014: Something You Want

The first step in a different way to give gifts is something you want.

We’ve asked our kids to pick out one gift that they really want. Of course, you would need to set a price limit on this and keep it somewhere around the same for each child.

While there is no guarantee they will get exactly what they ask for, the benefit of having them focus their wish list down to one main thing is that you’re not spending the entire holiday season with them creating and coveting a large Christmas list.

For example, our daughter wants the American Girl Doll of the Year, Isabel, and our son wants the new Disney infinity 2.0. By knowing that this is there one gift we are giving them, it also helps us direct others that may be wanting to either pitch in or complement that gift.

The Family Money Minute is made possible by Operation Christmas Child, who reminds us that by saving money, we can make a bigger impact on the lives of needy children around the world.
