I’m not ashamed to admit I had a morning meltdown…

The Daily Dash: May 18 2016 {Less Talk, More Living}

IN THE NEWS:
* TSA under pressure to step up security screeners and diminish passenger wait times
* Clinton and sanders split Democratic primaries- Sanders pushes on
* Belmont student & twin brother arrested in PA bombings
* Trump interview with Megyn Kelly aired
* NY commuters stranded after fire breaks out on rails

IN MY LIFE:
* Last night because of kids’ schedules, we ended up in a drive through for dinner. While that’s not the worst thing in the world, I felt like I was talking more about health to my kids then living it out before them and pledged to apologize for that in the morning.

Then, after an interaction with my daughter this morning and shortly after one with my son, I found myself in tears. Not only have they heard my spirit, but I realized that by trying to have so many deep conversations with them all the time, I might actually be wanting their spirit and planting a seed for them to not want to come to me with their concerns.

As I was crying on the floor, I not only asked God to help me choose joy in that moment, I found myself reaching for “My Utmost for His Highest”, which I hadn’t read yet for the day. Today’s entry was titled “Living Simply-Yet Focused”. In the second paragraph, I read the following, which hit me exactly where I needed it:
The people who influence us the most are not those who detain us with your continual talk, but those who live their lives like the stars in the sky and “the lilies of the field”- simply and unaffectedly. Those are the lives that mold and shape us.

So I apologized to my kids after I picked myself up off the floor and pledged to really put James 1:19 into practice: be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.
