How do you recharge (& where do you go to do it?)…
Extroverted Introvert – How do you recharge? {Daily Dash: October 13, 2025}
IN MY LIFE:
Most of you would probably assume I’m an extrovert. And until the past few years, I would have agreed with you. But that’s when I came across an article that described “extroverted introverts,” and I immediately felt seen.
While I’m obviously comfortable around people and can hold my own in a crowd, it drains me. I have a hard time hearing and focusing if more than one conversation is occurring simultaneously around me. And as an empath, I’m quick to pick up on and absorb others’ emotions.
As such, I find I need to pull away and recharge, typically by myself, after I’ve been around a bunch of people. That can look like praying, journaling, walking, or tapping. It’s the reason you’re more likely to see me watching Funnel Vision by myself on the pool deck of a Disney Cruise at night rather than dancing in a club.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good dance party, but if I’ve been battling crowds in a theme park all day, something has to give that night. Likewise, if I’ve been teaching or volunteering all day; the only way for me to feel like myself again is to get quiet on my own.
So if this describes you too, don’t feel bad. Even Jesus pulled away from the crowds for periods of time. The important thing is not to turn to either extreme and communicate clearly what you need when you need it.
