It has been an incredibly busy week (for me and the world). Between the Olympics, NFL Honors, and Super Bowl prep, we have certainly been glued to our TVs. And let’s not forget this month’s episode of “The Sami Cone Show” that aired today! (You can catch it here if you missed it)

And if you live in Nashville, I want to encourage you to see Mean Girls on Broadway at TPAC this weekend. I haven’t been to TPAC since the pandemic, so it felt great to see live theater again (everyone had to show proof of vaccination before entering and wear masks during the performance).

To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the movie “Mean Girls” from start to finish, but I knew enough about this Tina Fey production that it made me want to see the musical. And it did not disappoint. The cast was stellar (including Mary Kate Morrissey as Janis, who previously starred as Elphaba in the touring cast of Wicked) and let’s face it, it was just plain fun.

I wish my teenage daughter had come with me. Sure, we’ve heard the message of “being yourself” in other teen movies, but this one really resonates without hitting you over the head. As such, children under 4 are not allowed in the theater and it’s not recommended for children under 10. But other than a little cursing and a few middle fingers being raised, I wouldn’t call this show edgy. It’s definitely worth the night out!

In honor of the message of mean girls, I pray we all find our self esteem from the one true living God and not from what others say or write about us (especially on social media!).
