Live Like You’re Dying {The Daily Dash: October 30, 2019}

IN THE NEWS:

* Toddler trapped in well for 70 hours has died
* Taylor Swift to be honored as Artist of the Decade at AMA’s
* New “ABC” song has people up in arms
* Nationals tied up the World Series
* National Candy Corn Day

IN THE WORD:

God will never reveal more truth about Himself to you, until you have obeyed what you know already ~ Oswald Chambers

IN MY LIFE:

My mom and I flew into Chicago yesterday at a very early hour so we could attend my cousin’s funeral and Shiva (traditionally, a 7-day mourning process where Jews ‘receive’ friends and family for visitation). While I hate the reason for gathering, it’s always impactful to reconnect with relatives we haven’t seen in awhile and hear stories we never would have had the opportunity to hear otherwise.

I was inspired by the stories I heard from her brothers about the laughter, humor and kindness she brought to all their lives in different ways. Tim McGraw has a song, “Live Like You’re Dying” and it couldn’t be more true. I know we always say events like this will change us, but I truly hope we all take the opportunity to live a little differently today.

PRAYER FOCUS: Fun
I would typically pray “joy” over you in a situation like this, but after attending my cousin’s funeral and hearing how she always found a way to laugh and have fun, I pray each of you finds a way to have fun and laugh today.
