What I learned from doing something for the first time…

The Daily Dash: August 27, 2018 {Day Trip to @Dollywood}

IN THE NEWS:
* Deadly mass shooting at FL gaming tournament
* John McCain lost his battle to cancer at the age of 81
* Hawaii won Little League World Series, while their home is recovering from Topical Storm Lane
* Banana Lovers Day

IN THE WORD:
This weekend was a rarity: we didn’t have a lot of commitments, so I spent most of Saturday taking my kids to see (mostly) new friends from school and meeting new parents myself.

Yesterday, friends asked us to make a day trip to Dollywood. While we’ve learned that we typically don’t do trips less than 2-3 nights because they exhaust us, we agreed since we could carpool and all have season tickets.

While we had a great time, it did in fact exhaust us. Thankfully, we were either able to get on rides quickly or make use of Time Saver passes to make the most of our time and jump right to the front of the rides that had long lines; we literally were able to make it through the park and ride ALL the rides we wanted in about a 5 hour time span! I’m also thankful we had our refillable mug to share as a family. With refills costing only 99 cents (in addition to free water being available throughout the theme park), we were able to stay hydrated and cool on an otherwise hot, August day.

Of course, riding three water rides in a row helped in that effort as well!

As much fun as we had and good food we enjoyed, I much prefer taking our time over 2-3 days at both Dollywood and Splash Country. Still, I’m thankful for the memories we made. It also make me look forward to Great Pumpkin Luminights this fall when the weather is cooler and we have more time to walk around and enjoy ALL Dollywood has to offer.

I’m always updating my Dollywood ticket sale post and while you can still purchase tickets on Groupon, you can also go on Dollywood’s site and EVERYONE pays kids’ ticket prices right now! More details here: https://www.samicone.com/dollywood-ticket-sale/

PRAYER FOCUS: Thoughtfulness
As I pray thoughtfulness over each of you today, I ask that you do the same over my kids, especially my son who has field day today. As we’re so tired from our trip yesterday, I pray he’s not only thoughtful towards those around him today, but that he also thinks before he acts today.
