IN MY LIFE:

I confessed to my counselor yesterday that I seesaw between feeling like I have to be productive ALL the time and giving myself grace to not have to always be busy.

One thing he recommended was to work on prioritizing my daily to-do list. He said there are often a couple of  “big rocks”  we keep carrying over on our lists day after day because we don’t have the energy to tackle them. But by doing that, we actually put more of an emotional strain on ourselves.

When I told him about my two “big rocks” I keep carrying over, he was quick to correct me, “Those are projects, not rocks.”

I’ve been so frustrated at myself for not getting these things done, but in actuality, they are larger projects that need to have weekly and monthly goals to be able to accomplish them by the end of this year.

Just hearing those words helped calm me. It wasn’t so much that I was being inefficient, but more so that I had unrealistic expectations and had to reassess my plans. What do you need to re-assess on your to-do list before this weekend?

PRAYER FOCUS: Contentment

My prayer for all of us today is that regardless of our circumstances, we find a way to be content in the moment.
