October 08, 2015: Bulk Meat Savings

One of the easiest ways to save on fresh meat is to buy it in bulk. You’ll almost always find a cheaper price per pound when you buy a larger package. But if you don’t have a large family to feed, you may be wondering how to make this work without having leftovers go to waste.

The key is batch cooking. For instance, I bought four pounds of meat the other day and cooked it all at once, using half of it to go into a spaghetti sauce with meatballs and the other half I cooked in a Mexican style to use for tacos.

Once you cook the meat accordingly, you can also freeze it in portions to enjoy later. That way, instead of going to a Mexican fast food restaurant because we don’t feel like cooking, I can pull out everything I’ve made in advance and we can enjoy a cheaper and healthier meal at home.
