Before I Go, I Need You to Know: Why I’m Grateful for 2020
Yes, you heard me right. I’m grateful for this year. Why? Because every day is a gift.
While this has been one of the most difficult years of my life personally, not to mention for our world, I don’t wish away a day.
James 4:4 reminds us that, “The reality is you have no idea where your life will take you tomorrow. You are like a mist that appears one moment and then vanishes another.”
Therefore, let us not take one moment on this earth for granted. I have learned to embrace joy and grief simultaneously. And, just as I remind my kids each night, you can always find one good thing in every circumstance and everybody.
So thank you, 2020, for reminding us to slow down, re-assess, and get back to basics.
For helping us to have a greater appreciation for our front-line workers, teachers and essential employees.
And for showing us that although this virus may be novel, our God remains in control through it all.
So how do we put this into practice every day?
We rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in ALL circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
