Is bringing a pet into your family a budget line item you just don’t want to think about? Well try this instead…

If you’re like me, you have kids that are BEGGING you for a puppy. Not only am I allergic, it’s frankly something I don’t want to pay for!

But it becomes easier when you can put that ownership back on your kids, so here are two suggestions:
First, Have your child research EXACTLY how much it would be to adopt and then care for the animal for an ENTIRE YEAR, with the understanding they cannot get a pet until they’ve saved that money.

Second. Consider fostering an animal for a week. That way there’s no up-front expenses PLUS your kids can see for themselves just how much work it is…
