I’m doing something for the first time at Opryland’s Soundwaves Nashville today…

IN MY LIFE:

I’m back at one of my favorite hotels today, Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, for a special event and to try something new.
I was invited to attend the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting event for Soundwaves, their new, one-of-a-kind indoor water attraction. This morning we’ll hear from Ryman CEO Colin Reed. But what I’m really excited about is the “Crowd Surf for a Cause” charitable event featuring local celebrities and champions on the FlowRider.
For every minute the celebrities stay upright on the FlowRider, Gaylord Opryland Resort and Ryman Hospitality Properties will donate to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital via Children’s Miracle Network.
You may remember my (very) brief stint surfings on the FlowRider just a few weeks ago as I documented in this Instagram photo. I’m willing to jump back into the waves, I just can’t guarantee if I’ll stand back up on the board or not ?
I am doing something different this time at Opryland though: I’m here without my family. Oh trust me, I wrestled with it for a while; I struggled with whether or not to take my kids out of school for this. However, I finally realized there’s value to traveling alone as a mom. (My friend Clarissa has 9 tips for when you don’t travel with kids: https://www.clarissaexplainsitall.net/travel-with-kids/).
Why should I feel guilty for doing something on my own? First of all, this is part of my work. And even if I did want to get away on my own for a trip, I believe that would only recharge me and end up benefitting my family.
I know, I know, easier said than done. But let’s consider this trip a kick-off to my emotional health and to exploring new things in my life.

PRAYER FOCUS: Independent
As you always consider those around you, may you also be secure in yourself and independent of thought, not worried about what others think or say of you.
