IN MY LIFE:
A lot has happened since I last came to you on the dash! Britton and I spent the weekend in Cincinnati at the Western & Southern Open tennis tournament. It was two FULL days, but they were days we will never forget. Technically, it was the qualifying weekend, so there wasn’t a lot of match play, but we literally saw almost EVERY major player practicing…some even practicing sets against each other.

For example, on Saturday it cost us only a collective $18 to get seats on Center Court (which we hardly sat in because there was so much else going on around the grounds); not only did we see Roger Federer hit against Diego Schwartzman (and get both of their autographs), immediately after that we saw Andy Murray practice with Kei Nishikori! Oh, and I forgot to mention that as soon as we arrived on the grounds at 8am we saw returning champion Garbine Muguruza followed by Serena Williams. And that was all before lunch!

I’ll have to write up a full recap post for you soon, but let me sum up our experience with this story: on our way out of town yesterday morning, I literally ran into Mary Carillo & Paul Annacone: two tennis legends and current commentators (OK, maybe it was more like running after them than running into them, but that’s besides the point). I stopped to thank them for all they do and told them it was B’s first tournament. Mary went on to say how Cincy was one of her favorite tournaments, especially because of the fan access to players. She said, “Anytime someone complains about how expensive the US Open is, I tell them to just go to Cincy!”. Enough said.

Tomorrow is the kids’ first day of school, and a new one at that, so tonight and last night have been filled with preparation and orientations. You know I’ll share all the feels on that tomorrow.

PRAYER FOCUS: Mature
As my kids get ready to start school, I pray that they are mature in their interactions, especially as the get to meet new friends and teachers.
