Two must-attend events are going on in Nashville this weekend…

The Daily Dash: December 29, 2017 {#CheekwoodLights & #MusicCityMidnight} @VisitMusicCity @BritishAirways #BrittonToBritain

IN THE NEWS:
* Trump wants USPS to charge more for Amazon shipments
* 12 dead in NYC apartment fire, said to be started by a child
* IL community raises $800 in 8 hours to buy train ticket for homeless vet to stay with friend in NY

IN THE WORD:
Our individuality is to be rendered radiant through a personal relationship with God ~ Oswald Chambers

IN MY LIFE:
Last night, we embraced the cold weather and made Christmas stretch a little further by going to Cheekwood Lights with some friends. The Cheekwood Holiday Lights feature one million lights; the carefully-planned course is one mile in length, offering lights and decorations designed to appeal to all ages.

In addition to new programming, crowds will find their favorites like real reindeer, as well as s’mores pits, festive cocktails and nightly performances from holiday carolers in the loggia of the newly restored Cheekwood Mansion (we even got to request our favorite carols!). The lights only run through this Sunday, so don’t delay in checking them out.

I’m also beyond excited to announce that British Airways will help those of us in Nashville usher in 2018 in a unique way–– with a 6:00 pm CST/midnight U.K. time countdown led by Nashville Mayor Megan Barry and English rocker Peter Frampton. British Airways will also partner with the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp to host a pop-up English pub for all guests at the famed New Year’s Eve celebration, to be held at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park on Sunday, Dec 31.

The British Airways Pub will be located at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park at Sixth Avenue and will be open to the public beginning at 4:00 p.m. and throughout the night, complete with British spirits, memorabilia and a commemorative photo booth and green screen to transport guests to London through several classic backdrops. Visitors can also enter to win a pair of tickets for travel on the airline’s new service from Nashville to London, which first takes off from Nashville International Airport on May 4, 2018. Superstar Keith Urban will announce the winner later in the evening.

As you can imagine, our family is beyond excited for this opportunity, especially our son, Britton, who is named after my mother’s native country. Here’s hoping that we get to be one of the families on British Airways inaugural flight from Nashville to London next year!
