Tracking Gift Cards

September 14, 2015: Tracking Gift Cards

Have you ever gone somewhere specifically because you had a gift card, but then can’t find it or don’t know how much is left on it? I’m here to help…

Gift cards are great, but there are two HUGE problems I see people run into with them.
1. They forgot where they put them, so they lose them before they can use them.
2. They use part of it once, but then waste the remainder of money by never using it again.

I have a simple solution that covers both problems: carry a gift card wallet. I keep all my gift cards with me at all times. I also carry a sharpie with me so I can write the remaining balance on the back of the card once it’s used so I always know what’s left.

There are even websites where you can purchase partially used gift cards at a fraction of the cost, further helping you make the best use of every gift card in your possession.
