We always love coming to Dollywood, but today is special. Not only is Dolly herself in the theme park, but she’s making an announcement about Dollywood’s newest attraction which roars into the park in 2023.
The project marks the largest single attraction investment in the history of Dollywood, and represents the next step in the $500 million expansion plan first announced in 2021.
Big Bear Mountain Roller Coaster
The Big Bear Mountain Roller Coaster is set to open at Dollywood in Spring 2023. The $25 million, 3,990 ft. ride will become the theme park’s longest roller coaster. It hugs 6 acres of topography along the expansion of Dollywood’s newest and award-winning family area, Wildwood Grove.
Wildwood Grove has quickly become a favorite section for younger visitors, but this new coaster will allow the entire family to embark on an unforgettable expedition through the Smokies in search of the elusive “Big Bear.” Featuring a top speed of 48mph, Big Bear Mountain takes guests through three separate launches, multiple airtime hills, high-speed carousel turns and tunnels, including a pass behind a waterfall.
Dollywood Company President, Eugene Naughton was quick to point out another game-changing feature of the ride:
“Big Bear Mountain is an exciting ride that really is going to be a came chcanger for us. Not only is it the largest coaster we’ve build, but it includes features – like on-board audio – that are new for our company.”
