I’m think I’ve finally come up with a term for what I’m battling…

IN MY LIFE:

I’m sorry I missed y’all yesterday. I ended up with a horrible headache which sabotaged my afternoon. Then my son wanted to “make something” for dinner, so we ended up trying a new recipe for Beer Cheese Soup (he fell in love after trying it at one of our favorite Nashville restaurants – Burger Up). It turned out great!

That being said, I’ve also been in a bit of an emotional quandary. We’ve been dealt some REALLY tough blows lately, but that doesn’t mean we get to stop living life. It also doesn’t mean good things aren’t happening too.

But because I strive to be transparent and authentic, I struggle with how to live amidst all the emotions, so I coined a term for it: Emotional Juxtaposition.

As I was looking for a verse for my daughter the other night, I came across Proverbs 14:13…
“Even in laughter the heart may ache, and rejoicing may end in grief.”

It reminded me that nothing is new under the son, God knows everything and I don’t have to live a flat, one-sided life. If I’m honest, I suppose I don’t know anyone who’s life is altogether beautiful or even completely awful without a glimmer of hope.

While I still haven’t completely rectified how to live authentically when feeling like I’m being bombarded by both joy and sorrow, this verse gave me hope that I’m not alone.

If you feel like you’re swimming simultaneously upstream and downstream, know that I see you and I’m right there in the current with you. Hang in there, friend.

PRAYER FOCUS: Authenticity
Wherever you find yourself today and whatever mood you may be in, I pray that you live today as authentically as possible.
