I know when the instructions have come from God because of their quiet persistence ~ Oswald Chambers

I’m not going to lie, this past weekend was a doozy for multiple reasons, not the least of which was the flooding in Nashville. You would think after the 2010 Flood that we would take those threats more seriously. But problems arise when the storms roll in during the night when most people are asleep.

We lost power for about 10 hours and our garage flooded. So while we spent most of Sunday drying out and moving things to higher ground with the help of friends, it could have been much worse.

The truth is, my emotional reserve is low right now. Parenting teens is not for the faint of heart. If frequently find myself torn between knowing I need to take care of myself but feeling guilty if I’m not ‘at the ready’ for any need that could arise with my kids.

I don’t helicopter parent, but then when I miss something, I start to reevaluate my parenting techniques and expectations. Thankfully, I know where my hope comes from and I know God can and will help them far more than I ever could. Still, that doesn’t change the stress and heightened emotions we feel in the moment. Pray for me.

It takes a lot of courage to tackle hard things. I pray you are fearless in your pursuits today!
