The new Bob Marley movie, “One Love”, comes out on Valentine’s Day, but I got a preview and I’m giving you my honest review…

Honest One Love Movie Review {Daily Dash: February 13, 2024}

IN MY LIFE:

“First he changed music. Then he changed the world.”

This quote from the poster of the new Bob Marley: ONE LOVE movie says it all. I’m embarrassed to say how little I knew about the life and impact of Bob Marley.

So many of us love listening to the music of Bob Marley & the Wailers, but I did not realize the depth of the political unrest he created that music in and how he used it to unify not just his native island home of Jamaica, but the world as a whole.

The movie was produced in partnership with the Marley family and the authenticity was evident throughout. Particularly poignant was the strength of his wife, Rita, and what his entire family had to endure amidst his success.

And while I wouldn’t characterize it as a spoiler since anyone can read about his life, I won’t say how or when he died, but those details were unknown to me before the film as well. You’ll also want to stay through the credits to see original footage from the moments depicted in the film.

According to the official synopsis, this bio-pic “celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity. On the big screen for the first time, discover Bob’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music.”

This is a beautiful film that you’ll definitely want to see.
