National Shoebox Collection Week 2015 School Supplies

November 17, 2015: National Shoebox Collection Week 2015: School Supplies

It’s day 2 in our week featuring items perfect for shoeboxes during OCC collection week and today’s focus is a frequently omitted yet incredibly important inclusion…

What most people don’t realize is that one of the most important items you can include in shoeboxes are school supplies. While we in America might not consider that fun or even a gift, they are invaluable and scarce in a large part of the world. In fact, many kids receiving shoeboxes could go to school, but aren’t allowed because they can’t afford necessary supplies like pens, pencils and paper.

Other needed supplies include crayons, markers, pencil sharpeners and even more advanced items for the older children, like solar calculators.

Of course, don’t forget to include coloring and picture books for the young ones too!
