I know the topic of allowance can be a sticky one amongst parents, but have you ever thought about putting your kids on your payroll?

Our tween daughter is quickly learning that her clothing wants are exceeding her clothing needs. So we’ve talked about paying her a set amount of money each month and from that she can buy what she wants. That way, she learns the value of a dollar and (hopefully) starts to learn that some months she may have to save that money to be able to buy what she really wants the next month. Clothes may not be the money issue with your kids, but I bet you can find a category within your budget where this tip would make an impact with your kids, if only to make a point for a few months!
