To have a master and teacher is not the same as being mastered & taught ~ Oswald Chambers

IN MY LIFE:

Mom guilt is a real thing. But more than that, there are so many thoughts that run through a mother’s mind everyday, whether she works in the home or outside of it. But I’ve never seen it chronicled so well from a women who successfully transitioned from Marketing executive to teacher to stay-at-home mom as I have from Jen Babahkan. Her honest dealings with her own feeling of grief and loss to contentment and peace are valuable for any mom to read.

Just listen to these insights from Jen:
“After resigning from my teaching career, I experienced an unexpected sense of loss. I no longer had a community of colleagues and friends to relate to. I no longer felt accomplished after a day of hard work (though I was working harder than ever before). I missed hearing praises for a job well done. I found myself feeling lost and worthless in my new role as a stay at home parent. Trading lesson plans and strategic collaborations for diapers and dishes was devastating to my misplaced sense of self worth.”

Her newly released book, Detoured: The Messy, Grace-Filled Journey from Working Professional to Stay-at-Home Mom chronicles Jen’s journey from working woman to stay-at-home mother, and she wants to share its core message with everyone she can: Your worth is not your work.

PRAYER FOCUS: Work
No matter what you do, do it as working for the Lord, not man. I can’t help but keep thinking of this verse as today is the start of my work week after Fall break. I pray your work brings you fulfillment and joy today.
