Tour Gaylord Springs Golf Links
Gaylord Springs Golf Links is one of the best golf courses you can play in Tennessee. Golf is an essential activity perfect for all ages and great exercise, allowing for social distancing in wide-open spaces. Now is the perfect time to pick up a new hobby or brush off your skills if you have not played in a while.
How to Talk to Kids About Race
I spoke with my friend Danyelle Little on the most important key when talking to your kids about race. But that’s just the beginning. Click below to hear our entire conversation.

Sami’s Savings Tip: Try Before You Buy
One positive thing that has come from this time of quarantine is that everyone seems more willing to try new things. But before you rush out and buy a new musical instrument or piece of sporting equipment, it’s worth asking around to see if you can borrow it from a friend or neighbor. This is especially true for kids whose excitement wears off quickly.
Case in point, check out how I tried my hand at something new when I visited Gaylord Springs Golf Links this month.
Before I Go, I Need You to Know: You Can Do Hard Things
If this season of slowing down and staying in has taught me anything it’s that we can do hard things…things we never before imagined were possible.
Think about it: chances are you’ve tried something new in the past month: teaching, cooking, creating, playing, streaming, working, filming, gaming and so much more. Sure, not everything turns out the way we planned it, but if I’ve learned anything from my guests today, it’s to let failure serve as inspiration and not just plant ourselves in what’s comfortable.
To the contrary: we need to engage and explore to activate something new within us. We need to have more conversations, listen to different perspectives and purposefully put ourselves in situations we wouldn’t normally encounter. And as my friend Danyelle reminded me, it’s OK to acknowledge someone else’s pain, even when you haven’t experienced that pain yourself.
So regardless of whether you’re contemplating a new job, hobby or even relationship, I want to encourage you to get out of your own way. Don’t stop before you start. The only one standing in your way is you. Romans 12:2 reminds us:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
I pray today you remember who you are and whose you are, that you have a Father in heaven who made you in His image and a friend in me who believes you can accomplish anything He has birthed in your heart to do.
