IN MY LIFE:

Happy Thanksgiving week! I don’t know about you, but not only are our kids out of school for the entire week, we’re hosting 2 dozen of my husband’s family and already had a busy weekend of holiday activities.

We started out Saturday with kids’ basketball games and then got to meet the iconic Brenda Lee at Madame Tussauds Nashville (remember, I told you TN residents can visit for only $10 now?). But then we headed to a brand-new holiday experience here in Music City: GLOW Nashville.

First Tennessee Park (the home of the Nashville Sounds baseball team) has transformed this season into what’s being called “Nashville’s Brightest Christmas Experience”. Featuring Nashville’s tallest Christmas tree, a curated Winterfest Market of local artisans, Santa’s workshop, Blitzen’s band box and more, there seems to be something for everyone at first glance.

What we did find are many beautifully lit locations that make great backgrounds for Instagram shots. And there were fun little pockets throughout the park, including a mini-curling game and even igloos with couches, games and blankets. But other than the lights and Santa’s workshop, the main activities – such as snow tubing and ice skating – are outside and have an additional price tag.

We spent about 45 minutes walking around, seeing all there is to see and taking pictures, and after that our teenagers were done. While we were gifted the tickets by GLOW Nashville, we did not spend extra to go skating or tubing ($4 for a single slide). Considering it costs $29.99 for an adult general admission ticket (ages 13+), this would have to be our one family holiday event, and I cannot say I’d choose it to be that. They do have a family pack for $89.99 that includes 2 adult tickets and 2 kids’ tickets (ages 3-12 years), so that’s something to keep in mind.

Where I do see GLOW shining (see what I did there?) is an outing for girlfriends or even to host a holiday party in the upper level suites & boxes. I think it provides a beautiful backdrop for a gathering of friends or co-workers, especially with Blitzen’s band box and the other bar areas available.

PRAYER FOCUS: Understanding
As we begin Thanksgiving week, may we walk with understanding for those we love, but may not always agree with.
