I wish I had better news for you, but If you’re thinking about seeing The Odyssey in theaters, I say save your time and money.
It comes out on my birthday, but unfortunately, this film was not a gift.
My daughter and I had two different views about the film, although we did share some similar takeaways.
Watch our honest review; it’s quite amusing and informative.
But if five minutes is too long for you (or as my daughter said TL-DR), she filmed a 1-minute version you can watch on my Instagram
Side note: my daughter said that if I hated it, everyone else will love it, so take that with a grain of salt…
The Odyssey Honest Movie Review
The cast includes:
- Tom Holland
- Matt Damon
- Anne Hathaway
- Charlize Theron
- Zendaya
- John Leguizamo
- Elliot Page
- Robert Pattinson
With a high-powered cast like that, I had huge expectations. However, the acting felt disjointed at times and didn’t play to the strength of the cast members.
From the studio:
Christopher Nolan’s next film, The Odyssey, is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX®film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX® film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.

I was invited to see this movie as part of the Nashville press. All thoughts above are my own.
