Guilty on 3 Counts {The Daily Dash: April 21, 2021}

IN MY LIFE:
My students started giving their final speeches today and it’s the reason I teach this class year after year. They may be over half my age, but I always learn so much from them.
One female student shared a poignant moment at the end of her speech when she touched on some of the social injustice our nation has experienced in the past year. She ended by making the point that “you can’t control what happens, but you can control how you react to what happens…everyone has a voice and everyone deserves to be heard.”
The verdict that came down yesterday validates that we cannot operate in our own bubbles. I may never know the pain felt by my POC friends, but I can help give voice to the accountability we all need to live by.
PRAYER FOCUS: Prayerfulness
Another one of my students said something in her final speech today that impacted me, “Prayer is the only thing I’ve ever seen make a difference in my life.” For an 18-year-old high school senior to come to that realization already spoke to me. I pray each of us today will not only believe that prayer makes a difference, but put that into practice as well.
