IN MY LIFE:
I heard someone say this morning that those my age and older will never forget where they were when we heard about the Columbine school shooting…and yet more lives were lost in the Parkland school shooting and it is the 18th school shooting that has happened this year alone. I have no words of advice or consolation, but only a charge to say that we cannot allow this to be normalized in our society.
I also want to take a stand of solidarity with our teachers. We’ve long agreed that they are one of the most underpaid and under appreciated populations, but to expect them now to learn how to fight back against shooters and become human shields seems incomprehensible.
Ironically, today is in the 70’s here in Nashville. I don’t know what’s going on with our weather, but I have a feeling this is going to wreak havoc with everyone’s immune system again.
