IN MY LIFE:

I can’t get over how pretty it is here in Nashville! We’re famous for moving straight from Winter to Summer, but we’ve already been experiencing the most beautiful Spring. Y’all know I’m not what you’d consider an “outdoorsy gal”, but when it’s sunny and 50 degrees, I can’t help but be outside.

I also couldn’t wait any longer to tell you about something I’ve been working on for my son all year. As you know, he turned 13 one month ago. Ever since January 1, I’ve been reading sections of the Bible for Teen Guys daily.

“But Sami, you’re not a teen or a guy.” I know. But I’ve been reading it with my son in mind and then will gift it to him at the end of the year. I also write in prayers I have for him, things that stand out to me from the reading, and special events that happen each day, so it acts as a mini-journal as well.

If you remember, I did the same thing for my daughter when she turned 13 (but with the Once a Day Bible for Women: https://www.samicone.com/the-daily-dash-january-27-2017-onceadaybible-nivbible-bookreview/)

Unfortunately, Zondervan didn’t have an NIV Daily Bible Counterpart for guys, so I printed out a daily Bible reading plan online and am following that with the Bible for Teen Guys.

I already know God’s word comes alive in new ways each and every time I read it based on what I’m going through at that moment. But being able to read through the Bible each year with a different person I love in mind has truly given God’s words new life for me.

Even though this Bible was designed for young men, I’ve truly enjoyed and benefitted from the insights and devotionals placed strategically throughout the text. I also love the stitched blue cover. It’s not cheesy at all, like some Bibles designed for a younger audience. Plus it’s sturdier than a paperback cover without being as menacing as a hardcover.

If you want to consider a similar gift for a young man in your life you can find it here on Amazon (https://amzn.to/2YTay7U).

PRAYER FOCUS: Devoted
May we all be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer, as it says in Romans 12:12. Be mindful of what you devote yourselves to today.

Stay in the know on the go:
