When I first heard about Melt, the all-new organic butter alternative, to say I was skeptical would be an understatement.
After all, one thing I learned after being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome almost 15 years ago was to “always eat the original, not substitutes”.
I mean think about it; too often we hear about these ‘healthy’ cookies, drinks and yes, even butter!
But when someone I liked (and trusted!) suggested I try Melt, I looked into it a little more closely. Not only is it gluten-free, something I’ve been trying to do for the past few months, but it’s also made from coconut oil, something else I’ve been trying to add more of into my diet.
So, I decided to give it a shot.
It comes in a tub and spreads more like a whipped butter, but can be used anywhere you would normally use butter. Melt is a butter alternative made of virgin coconut oil, flax seed oil, palm fruit oil and canola oil. It provides the good fats your body needs when you take out other fats in your diet. Melt cooks, tops and bakes just like butter, with good-for-you ingredients.
Now if you’ve tried coconut oil in your cooking before, you’ll notice the same bit of sweetness in Melt, but not so much as to throw off your savory dishes.
