I recently threw a surprise 45th birthday party for my husband to kick off summer on our newly remodeled deck and the one thing I knew I wanted to stock up on was beverages.

It can be hard to make a crowd happy, but there are two things I know everyone drinks in the summer: water and lemonade!

We had over forty adults and kids who gathered to celebrate with us and I knew having plenty of those two drinks on hand would keep everyone happy.

When entertaining, I always recommend focusing on a few key offerings (and making sure there’s plenty of it) rather than serving just a little bit of a lot of things. Not only does it make your prep so much easier, it keeps costs down.

Narrowing your menu also allows you to buy in bulk at a store like Sam’s Club. At Sam’s Club, members can always find their summer cookout essentials at great low prices.

If I have my choice of water and lemonade, I’m going to choose quality drinks like Glaceau SmartWater and Simply Lemonade to serve my friends and family.

Your family may not have a summer birthday to celebrate, but chances are you’ll be gathering together for a summer BBQ at least once this year (if not weekly!). Why not be prepared by stocking up on drinks now so you’re always at the ready?

When we remodeled our kitchen last year, one thing we added was a beverage fridge so people always felt right at home grabbing a drink and never had to ask where they were.

We purposely remodeled our kitchen and our deck first so that we could be “the home” where people (especially our kids and their friends) always wanted to hang out. As our kids enter the teenage years and *gasp* high school, our goal is to have them not only want to continue to hang out at home, but to create an environment so warm and welcoming that their peers want to do the same.

Regardless of where you live or what your outdoor space looks like, everyone can make their house feel like a home by fostering an attitude of hospitality…and for our family, that meant making sure people were always aware they are welcome and ALWAYS have a comfy chair and a cold beverage awaiting them.
