Watch the Talk of the Town video of  today’s show

Tune in to Talk of the Town on NewsChannel 5 in Nashville at 11am CST on Friday, October 29th to watch my latest “Frugal Mom” segment on Fun & Frugal Fall Party Ideas!

I want each of you to tune in (or come back to watch online), but I since I’m sharing so many fabulous ideas, I wanted to make sure you caught them all!

Veggie Pizza

Take two, 8oz cans of crescent rolls (or pizza dough) and press out flat onto parchiament lined cookie sheet. Prick with a fork and bake according to package directions (about 11min at 375 degrees).

Combine one small tub of flavored (chive & onion) whipped cream cheese, 1 T horseradish and 1 T mayonnaise; spread mixture onto cooled crust. Finely chop your favorite vegetables (carrots, peppers, broccoli, tomatoes and green onions are my favorite!) and sprinkle liberally over cream cheese mixture. Finally, top with finely shredded cheddar cheese. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Bruschetta Bar

Get Parmesan toast points or cut a baguette into rounds an lightly toast.

Finely chop fresh tomato, basil and garlic. Mix with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Allow guests to spoon onto toast.

You can also choose different cheeses and meats to use as toppings as well.

For Kids: Combine crunchy peanut butter, raisins, and apples chopped into small squares with a touch of cinnamon.

White Chocolate Candy Corn Chunks

Melt 6 squares (1 box) of white baking chocolate in a medium Pyrex. (Can be done in the microwave in 45 second intervals). Once melted, stir in candy corn and dried cranberries (can also mix in nuts as well). Once combined, spoon into a flexible ice cube tray. Knock on counter to remove air bubbles and allow to cool in refrigerator. These will pop out with just a twist once completely cooled (at least an hour).

Festive Candy Pretzel Rods

Take remaining melted white chocolate and dip pretzel rods into it, twisting when you remove to coat the top half. Quickly shake multi-colored sprinkles over the chocolate and allow to firm on a parchment lined cookie sheet. These will cool quickly and be a long-time favorite!
