If you’ve ever wondered how to make dairy free frozen banana ice cream, then you have to look no further than your kitchen counter, because chances are everything you need is sitting on it: a banana and a food processor.

That’s right, it’s possible to make smooth and creamy banana ice cream using only one ingredient: a frozen banana!

If you need an easy dairy free dessert, this is going to be your new favorite.

My daughter has a dairy sensitivity, which made me figure out how to make this frozen banana ice cream at home. But even if you don’t have dairy sensitivities like our family does, you’ll find it’s a crowd pleaser with a plethora of variations.

But before I get ahead of myself, let me teach you the easy recipe:

1 Ingredient Dairy Free Frozen Banana Ice Cream Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 banana (= 1 serving)
    • Add 1 banana per each person you wish to serve

Directions

1. Peel banana and slice into 1/2 inch slices

Frozen Banana Ice Cream Variations {All Dairy-Free}

  • Add 1/2 tsp of cocoa powder to create chocolate banana frozen yogurt
  • Mix in 1/2 Tablespoon of cashew, almond or peanut butter and top with gluten-free granola for a nutty version
  • Blend in 1/4 cup frozen berries for a mixed berry version
  • Stir in 1 Tbsp of chocolate hazelnut spread for a chocolate nut version
  • Add a 1/4 tsp of vanilla and a 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon for a sweet cinnamon version

As you can see from the pictures, I used a Cuisinart Mini Prep Food Processor (affiliate link), which worked perfectly for one serving. You can use a blender as well, but a food processor (affiliate link) gets the best results.

I’m sure you can come up with other frozen banana ice cream flavor varieties (and if you do, please leave them in the comments below!). My only complaint is that it took me over 40 years to discover this sweet summer treat.
