The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. ~ Job 42:12

Once A Day Bible Reading Plan & Devotion Day 15

Day 15 Devotion: In All Circumstances

Often in the midst of our day to day routine, it can be difficult to understand why we go through what we do. If anyone had the “right” to question God, surely it would be Job.

But keep this in mind: questioning God and understanding God are two very different things. In chapter 42 verse 3, Job replies to God with, “Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.”

While I’d venture to say that Job would never want to repeat the ordeal he went through, he endured it and came out on the other side with twice as much as he had before. Job’s story reminds us that the cost of our journey will never outweigh the benefits of the destination.

God never promised us that everything would be easy; what He does promise is that all things work for the good of those who love him. It’s easy to love God when everything is going our way, but do you still praise him when the going gets tough? Praise Him in all things and for all things. I am thankful that he helps me to see beyond the tragedy of the moment to the promise of eternity.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. – Rom 8:28
