Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God – Genesis 6:9b

Anyone hearing this description might be quick to immediately discount any impact they could have, for fear of not being able to measure up to the standards set by Noah. But what amazes me most about Noah is not so much what he did, but what he didn’t do…

Noah never gave up. He persevered. And most importantly, he obeyed.

John Maxwell says, “Character and perseverance determine what happens after a decision is made.” Obedience to God isn’t just about saying “Yes” to God, but about actually following through with your actions.

“Character and perseverance determine what happens after a decision is made.”

John Maxwell

Many of us waver and question our faith if God doesn’t respond to our prayers right away or if things don’t turn out quite like we’d imagined. Yet Noah persevered through decades of criticism to follow what God called Him to do.

Our past can affect our future, but it shouldn’t keep us from doing what we’re called to in the present day. Today is all we’re guaranteed, so make sure to make the most of it!
