FALL FASHION Buying Guide Gap Faves

My Fall Fashion Buying Guide with Gap Faves

I don’t know about you, but I CAN’T WAIT for Fall! As a native Chicago Girl, I love the brisk weather that allows me to pull out my comfy sweaters and riding boots.

Speaking of growing up in Chicago (in the 80’s, no less), Gap was my go-to for high school fashion. This was when scrunchies first made their debut. The Gap was the only place I knew that sold scrunchies in matching fabric to their most popular fashion pieces.

Established in 1969, Gap has transcended the fashion world. I don’t know how they do it, but over the years they’ve managed to keep up with trends while still maintaining their classic style.

So when I was asked to put together a fall fashion buying guide on a budget, I knew the easiest way to do that would be to turn to some of my Gap Faves.

Top 5 Fall Fashion Pieces

Whether you’re a capsule wardrobe warrior or simply looking to freshen up your fall closet, every wardrobe is based on a few essentials. I believe it’s important to invest in some basic staples while also pushing yourself to add at least one new on-trend piece.

With that in mind, here are my top 5 Fall Fashion pieces I recommend for this upcoming season:

1. Basic Blazer

If you don’t already own this Gap Basic Blazer, stop whatever you’re doing and click on the photo above to grab it now. Seriously.

I don’t care if you buy it in navy or black because this piece is SO versatile either way. It’s perfect with a graphic tee and jeans. It works equally well thrown over a sundress or jumpsuit as the weather transitions. You can also pair it with a sparkly tank top, tuxedo pants and heels for a night out. It’s classic and on-trend at the same time.

2. Shrunken White T-Shirt

I know, I know…you’re thinking, “Sami, I don’t need another white t-shirt.” But I would argue you do.

Most of us underestimate the power of a well-fitting, white t-shirt. And even if you already own one, chances are it’s looking a little drab after these hot summer months.

This new Gap Shrunken Short Sleeve T-Shirt technically comes in over a dozen colors, but again, I highly recommend adding a crisp, new, white shirt to your fall wardrobe.

3. Utility Joggers

I’ll admit, I’m a little late to jump on the joggers train. But after I found these Gap Utility Joggers made from Cotton and Tencel, I could no longer ignore this updated and more stylish option to its original cousin.

In fact, I’m willing to go out on a limb and declare these utility joggers are going to become this season’s yoga pant. So if you’re hoping to look like you put some thought into your outfit while still maintaining the comfort of stay-at-home style, these are for you. (Plus they come in a variety of colors!)

4. Sky-High Rise Jeans

Gap Sky High Rise Jeans

Say goodbye to the Mom Jean and hello to the Sky High Rise. Much like how I’ve felt about joggers in the past, I’ve never been able to hop on the Mom Jean trend. (To be honest, I think Mom Jeans look much better on women who haven’t had to go through childbirth yet!).

Gap Wide Leg Sky High Rise Jean Outfits

But when I saw these Sky High Rise jeans, especially the straight leg and wide-leg styles, I instantly admired what they could do for women’s legs of all body types. If you add one pair of new jeans to your fall 2020 wardrobe, these are it.

5. Upcycled Parka

I couldn’t give you a fall fashion buying guide without including at least one piece of outerwear. And while this GapFit Upcylced Parka may just become your favorite all-weather jacket, it’s obvious it’s also so much more.

I love this piece for two reasons: one, it’s so versatile and two, it’s 100% nylon and machine washable, making it easy to care for and pack. (Yes, I’m believing we’ll get to start traveling again soon, even if it’s just for a fall road trip).

And as you can see from the varieties of ways you can style this parka and all the available colors, it easily transitions from workout to night out.

And while I wouldn’t necessarily call face masks a fashion statement, they are a necessary staple to our fall outfits. Gap is not only making triple-layer, non-medical grade masks in a variety of colors for both adults & kids, they’re also donating 500,000 masks to the Boys & Girls Clubs.
